Reverse Advent calendar 11th Nov – 5th Dec
Our reverse advent calendar initiative supports the Keynsham food bank in providing support over Christmas for families in need. We asked our families to donate what they could. It is always a pleasure to present our gifts to the food bank at the beginning of December in good time for Christmas.
Christmas post boxes
Our smart post boxes are open for business in the Library. Children can post their cards here for delivery. Please remember to write the recipient's name and class clearly on the envelope.

School Christmas dinner Friday 13th December
You can see the special Christmas dinner menu here. This is a special menu and a special atmosphere that is not to be missed.
As with all school dinners, this is available free of charge for children in Reception and years 1 – 2. For children in years 3 – 6 who don't normally have a school dinner account, parents can make a one-off payment of £2.60 for the Christmas dinner using the School Gateway. For children with a dinner money account, this meal will be handled as a normal school dinner.
The usual Friday school dinner will now be served on Wednesday 11th December. Please see the school dinner menu, week 2, for details.
Children's Christmas parties Friday 13th December
Each year we hold Christmas parties for all year groups. As this is also Christmas Jumper Day children should wear their Christmas Jumpers and usual school skirt or trousers with school shoes. After our Christmas dinner, FS/KS1 children enjoy some traditional Christmas party games. KS2 children all participate in a carousel of fun Christmas activities provided by the teachers.
Christingle service Friday 20th December
Our final Christmas celebration before breaking up will be the Christingle service. In this charming event, the whole school gathers in the hall to sing traditional carols and songs. Each class makes a Christingle orange that is presented and lit during the service.
Singing for the elderly Thursday 28th November
As usual, we took a small group of children to the elderly people’s lunch club at Hinton Close, and also to Kingfisher Lodge Barchester Home to sing some traditional carols. This is an annual event that is always very much enjoyed by them and the children. See some pictures here.
Lighting of the Christmas tree Thursday 5th December
Once again children in Years 5 & 6 were invited to participate in the ‘Lighting of the Christmas tree’ concert held at Saltford Hall. See our news report here. This is an opportunity to perform Christmas songs, carols and poems that the children have learnt at school. The concert also includes performances from Saltford Village Choir.
This event is organised by Saltford Community Association and is always very well attended by villagers who do not have children at the school. It is a lovely opportunity for the children to be involved in a community event as part of their final years at Saltford School.
