A taste of Italy for a brand new fundraising night from the PTA
Tuesday 6th July saw Italy arrive in Saltford in the form of Pizza Night! Nearly 200 kits were sold for families to enjoy making and eating their pizzas. A big thank you to Stella Events for free use of their fridges and making the wonderful tomato based sauce and gluten free dough!
We would like to thank Saltford Kitchens and SBS Design and Build, Kings Antiques and Collectables and Dixons Plumbing and Heating for sponsoring the event and supporting the PTA and the school during a difficult year for fundraising. It is most appreciated!
The event raised over £900 which is an amazing amount of money so thanks to everyone who was involved in organising and everyone who supported the event! It is clear that lots of fun was also had in the process. Thanks to everyone who has shared their photos with us… here are some budding chefs:
Heartfelt thanks from school
We are very sorry to say goodbye to two of the PTA's active members, Ruth Presswood and Suzanne Young, whose youngest children will be moving on to secondary school in September.
Their contributions have been invaluable. Funds raised can be counted and the benefits to the school are clear but we are also very thankful for their personal commitment, positive attitude and openness with the school. Thank you both very much.
Ruth and Suzanne have written a letter which we would like to share:
“After ten years on the PTA committee we are sad that our journey with Saltford School has come to an end as our youngest children leave year 6 next month. Between us we have been part of the planning team or organised the summer fairs along with many other events of the last decade. By being on the PTA it has allowed us to get to know the teaching body as well as the school site and now as we leave we have left a lasting legacy that not only our children have enjoyed but future children will also.
We have helped fund interactive white boards, new computer suites, iPads, school books, swimming pool renovations, secret gardens, playground equipment, activity days, speakers brought in, equipment for classrooms and outdoor areas, the list goes on. It is by helping to raise these funds as part of the PTA team that the children have enjoyed these luxuries in the school and these have enhanced their education and learning over the years.
Sadly the last 18months have not given us as many opportunities to raise funds for the school but hopefully in September many of you will join the PTA to help with the fundraising that is so important in these times. You’ll make friends all around the school and your days at Saltford with your children are that much richer by knowing you are doing something great.
Have a great summer and hopefully we will be able to pop along to the larger events to say hello to familiar faces we have got to know over the last ten years.
Ruth Presswood & Suzanne Young”
